Why Not Me?: How to Get Out of the Comparison Game
The question you should be asking yourself. 👇
You fancy yourself a woman who supports & cheers on other women.
But sometimes, you read the post or hear the podcast about another woman’s success & the mean girl creeps in.
Does Your Mean Girl Come Out + Think Why Not Me?
You wonder, WTF? Why her? How did she do that? How did she become so lucky to live that life & have that freedom? Why does she get to enjoy all that money? And by the way, it looks like she’s barely working for it.
Maybe you write a narrative about her that’s meant to make you feel better about yourself or your current situation to deflect your jealousy or frustration.
Have you gone down that road mama?
I have. And it’s not a great road to travel. There aren’t really any helpful signs pointing you back on track or any great lessons to be learned from going that route.
You know what is helpful?
Why NOT Me? vs. Why Her?
Instead of asking, “Why her?” ask, “Why not me?”
I listened to so many @goaldiggerpodcast podcast episodes as I was building the courage to launch my own business, & hearing the success stories of hundreds of women (all of whom started with nothing but the seed of an idea) got me asking that second question.
Why NOT Me?
If she can do it, can’t I do it also? So many of these women shared the phrase, “If I can do it, anyone can.” And I leaned into that hard.
And it’s served me so freaking well. I get to meet amazing mamas all the time, inspiring them & being inspired by them. And lifting other women up feels so much better than breaking them down.
So next time you catch yourself thinking, “Why her?”... make that simple shift and instead ask, “Why not me?”
I want to know, have you tried this? Have you struggled with this? Tell me about it in the comments below 👇
